Recycling Services falls under the Utilities and Energy Services Department. Recycling was started in 1990 as a pilot program in six buildings on campus collecting only white paper and aluminum. In 1991 the project was finally implemented as a campus-wide program, managed by the Physical Plant Department. Recycling Services currently operate in about 150 buildings with a monthly tonnage averaging 72.
We collect the recyclables from all over the campus and deliver to a local processing facility. We currently collect: white paper, mixed paper, office mix (post-consumer), printer’s mix (pre-consumer), newspaper, cardboard, aluminum cans, plastic, and used computer ink and laser cartridges.
