Several projects are also conducted throughout the year by the UES Recycling Service. These projects include the Move-In Cardboard Collection in August, on-campus educational displays for Texas Recycles Day in November and the Brazos Valley Earth Day in observation of Earth Day in April.

2011 projects:
Move-In Cardboard Collection
Every year the Recycling Services organizes a cardboard collection program during the Residence Hall Move-in week. This program is sponsored by Recycling Services along with the Department of Residence Life and the Department of Food Services. Collection stations are placed throughout the residence hall areas for students to dispose of their boxes. Recycling Services employees pick up the cardboard boxes all over Northside and Southside and take them to a local processing facility.
The program has greatly expanded since it first started. We collected 13 tons of cardboard in 1999, 31 tons in 2000, 25 tons in 2001, 28 tons in 2002, and this year close to 57 tons of cardboard was collected during this one-week period! If you have question or suggestions for improving the 2011 collection, please contact us at 845-RRRR.
The week of Move-In produces considerably more cardboard than any other one-week period on campus. When students put their cardboard boxes in the dumpsters it creates excess bulk and causes the dumpsters to become full ridiculously fast, especially when students do not flatten their boxes first. As a result, the UES Recycling Services will be collecting cardboard for recycling at nineteen central stations around campus from:
Sunday, August 21st to Sunday, August 28th from 7 AM to 8 PM
Click the link for your respective side of campus to find the nearest collection station to your residence hall. Off-campus residents are also welcome to bring their flattened cardboard to one of our collection stations to be recycled.
Texas AGGIES Recycle Day
November 15th is America Recycles Day! The Recycling Services, in the effort of broadening recycling awareness and education in our campus, organizes a campus-wide observation of this day called Texas AGGIES Recycle Day.
Brazos Valley Earth Day
The Utilities and Energy Services Recycling Services co-sponsors this yearly event with the Water, Energy and Recycling Departments of the Cities of Bryan and College Station as well as the Brazos Valley Solid Waste Management Agency. Open to the public, this event is in observation of Earth Day (April 21) and focuses on community wide education on water conservation, energy conservation, recycling, waste reduction, composting, wildlife habitat and other environmental issues. The 2010 event was held on Saturday, April 17 at Wolf Pen Creek Park in College Station and was a great success!
