Every year UES Recycling Services organizes a cardboard collection event during the Residence Hall Move-in weeks. This event is sponsored by UES Recycling Services along with the Department of Residence Life and the Department of Food Services. Collection stations are placed throughout the residence hall areas for students to dispose of their boxes. UES Recycling Services pick up the cardboard boxes from various Northside, Southside, and White Creek locations then transporting them to a local processing facility. Off-campus residents are also welcome to bring their flattened cardboard to one of our collection stations to be recycled.
The time during the Move-In Cardboard Collection event produces a substantial amount of cardboard. For the 2017, over 23 tons of cardboard was collected for recycling within a two week period. When cardboard boxes are placed in the dumpsters, they take up considerable space requiring more trips to the landfill. As a result, UES Recycling Services will collect cardboard for recycling at nineteen central stations around campus August 19 - 26, 2018
As a consideration, please flatten the cardboard boxes before placing in the designation collection station. Thank you in advance for your cooperation in making this a successful event.
